“Self-Learning” is the New “Schooling” .. hmmm .. I have actually been saying this about 10 years ago that ALL universities should be Open Universities already. Just imagine, a student taking a 2 unit course, say, will attend class (if they do) and meet faculty for only 2 hours a week (for that course). Other than that, they are on their own interating with books, media and other means. So what is the fuss about face to face .. this scenario is more like an open learning concept.
So, perhaps faculty should design (well designed) fantastic interactive content and put it up to be access and come to class (if they want to) for enriching discusion, if neeed be .. This is because we have absolutely no idea with WHOM the students learn, WHAT they like to learn, WHEN they actually do any learning, WHY they learn what they learn and finally, WHERE the learning actually took place. All we can do is just provide the students with the best content and possible means for exploring knowledge through self-driven activities, and creating 360-degree educational transactions ..
